Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Quilters

We had our Holiday Lunch at the Elks last Tuesday and a great time was had by all.
It is fun to get together and not have to do any food prep...just show up.
Lots of wonderful show and tells...many Christmas themed.
Della showed her wall hanging that she quilted herself...Yea Della.
Phyllis  showed us this adorable wall hanging that has a gingerbread recipe in the house...lots of special touches on this creation.
Sue made this log cabin out of scraps and many of the strips are not the same size..very interesting to look at and a different way of laying out a log cabin.  I cut Sue off in the picture(sorry)  she is on the right. side.
We collected baby and toddler items for the Grand Traverse Baby Pantry and I think we can pat ourselves on the back for a good job.  Lots of unique made items, quilts, bibs , toddler clothes and diapers.  They do such a great job and we are so happy to help them out.
Claudia was our leader this meeting and did a great job organizing and planning for our meeting.  Thank you so much to her and to our other leaders pictured with the baby pantry items.
I hope this blog finds you all well and anticipating the holiday season with joy.     Kathy

What does go on at the Work Bee???

What does go an at the Fellowship Work Bee??
Those of you that attend know but some of you have not been there before.
It takes place on the second Tuesday of the month in the same room that we have our regular meeting.

Barb Roberts , our CLOSET QUEEN, runs the show and directs the work of creating wonderful quilts for us to donate.
She always has great ideas and wonderful ways to use questionable fabric that comes our way.
Joan and Marva   are in the process of tying a lap quilt.
Sally and Ruth are getting a quilt sandwiched.
Linda is our leader this year and we trust her with the rotary cutter as she cuts batting to stuff the heart pillows.
Karen and Vi are stuffing the heart pillows that we donate to Munson's heart surgery program.  There is always something to do at the work bee.  I love the RED sewing machine below...an older Viking...it is in its later years but still able to give service...like many of us.  So think about coming to the Work Bee and help with the work of giving service to others and .fellowship with lovely people who love quilts. It does not get any better that.

September Fellowship Quilters

The September Fellowship Quilters meeting met on Sept 25th at the Presbyterian Church.  We had a good group with lots of fun and fellowship.  Our morning guests were from Hearts To Holly Quilt Shop in Charlevoix.  Sue Miller on the right and Dawn Fletcher on the left lead the group in a project to make placemats. As you can see from the examples they are holding with Linda it was a great success.  Thanks to both Sue and Dawn for coming to Traverse City and imparting their wisdom. I have not yet been to their shop....Road Trip!!!
Bobbi was concentrating so much she did not even notice me taking this picture...she is a great sewer!!
What an inspiration!
Jackie showed her jack the zipper rug hooking....adorable!
Show and Tell is a wonderful time for our group...such sharing and learning from everyone.
Our Mission is to seek fellowship with other quilters through our love of quilting.  Our purpose is to share our quilts with charities in need.  Barb Roberts, our closet Queen, always has  a project for us to tackle and Lynne Derr brought 6 quilts from Barbs project pile.  They are beautiful and all different. We have given away 114 quilts so far this year.  Fantastic!!
We can be serious at times....Pat and Judy are sure paying attention!
A group shot of some of the quilters.
We keep two members in our prayers...Leah and Marcia...may they heal and return to us soon.

I hope everyone enjoys this blog...I find such inspiration from attending this group.  We all come from different backgrounds but share the love of the creative process of making a quilt.  We laugh and hug and eat and always have ideas to help each other out.    It does not get any better than that.
Look for my email about upcoming projects.

September Fellowship Meeting

Ruth Lamper showed us her day bed quilt made from scraps from her stash.  She is the queen of scrap quilts
Here is our leadership team for the 2012-2013 quilting season.  They are an enthusiastic group and have a great year planned.   Linda Constantieau, Jeanette Thompson, Judy Galligan and Claudia Heindl.
Marva Stevens made this baby quilt, one of many she makes for family.  She quilts most of her creations herself and it is wonderful to see her work!
Barb Roberts is our Charity Coordinator and always has encouraging words for all us.
Come to the work bee on September 11th at 10 am and join in the fun.  They will be sandwiching quilts and tying and/or quilting them.  We have donated 111 quilts so far this year to various charities.
We hope that you enjoy reading this blog.  We hope to do two blog entries a month to keep you updated on what we are doing at Fellowship Quilters       Kathy Nolan and Barb Roberts

Fellowship Quilters first blog entry

Welcome to the Fellowship Quilters Blog. We are based out of the Presbyterian church in Traverse City Michigan. We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month September thru May.
This is our mission statement:
We are a group of quilters who seek fellowship with other quilters through sharing our love of quilt making in a Christian environment. Our purpose is to provide quilts when needed to enrich the lives of others as well as to learn new quilting techniques and develop personal growth. We meet at the Presbyterian Church monthly on the 4th Tuesday and have Work Bees on the 2nd Tuesday.
We have fun, food, laughs and fellowship....the fact that we make fantastic quilts and get to see quilts that members make is a bonus. It is always a learning experience in a non threatening supportive environment. Follow us and see what happens.
