March Madness

Ruth Ann Berry came  to Fellowship Quilters and had a Trunk Show and Sale of patterns and kits. Her store is in Fife Lake and called Fabric Clinic.   Wow. wow , wow is the best I can say.  I decided to post all the pictures I took...with her permission and I am not sure I can get the names correct but will give it a try.  The first quilts were from her first book and is at Bargello.  She has her own way of doing it and demo'd it for us.  She uses 3 colorways, 8 colors for each .  This is taught as a class at Renee's.

Her second book is called Bargello Tangled

one is called Tangled Angles and one is All Tangled...not sure which is which??

The blue and yellow is called Tackle box and the one below is Garden Hoses

The one above is Jewlery Box and the one below is Sneaker Laces...not sure those are correct.

Ruth Ann used Equalateral Triangles to make these quilts.  The colors and the way they are stacked changes the way the quilt looks.  I lost track with these names of the quilt patterns...they are so unique and beautiful to look at...enjoiy!

She used photos that she printed on fabric for these impressive quilts.  They are just stunning and really pop with color and beauty.

The framing of these quilts is amazing.  Love the one that is off center.

Ruth Ann had many good sales from members and joined us for lunch.  Thanks to everyone who attended and our leaders for getting Ruth Ann for our program!!

March Madness 2

Greetings Quilters. This is March Madness 2 as I did not think I could put all the pictures in one blog posting.  We sure had a fun meeting.  It is always stimulating to get the creative juices moving with new ideas.  I did not think I would be so inspired by Ruth Ann's quilts but seeing them in person was very inspirational.  I really admire someone who can translate their creative side into a business that gives them so much pleasure.  I plan a road trip to her store which should be fun!!  As usual show and tell was a blast and Dianne started out with a great story about a quilt she had already made for her son and daughter in law.
She was asked to make pillow shams, and being the organized person that she is...she had the material name and all the details of the quilt in a file.  So she was able to make the shams to match the quilt.  Along with some smaller throw pillows.  Yea!!!
Ruth continues to do a great job with kids quilts...fish and sheep below.

Ruth also has done some of the Toro bags with cute coverings over the Toro logo.  There are more of these bags available from members who brought extra so ask at the next meeting if you are interested in buying a few.  There uses are varied and you can be creative and find some new uses.

Della continues to do her monthly wall quilt to put in her dining room.  This   is so cute and she did a wonderful job with the 3D flowers..
Pat made a cute panel quilt above and showed us her new "thing"...wool mittens.  She is already crossing off names on her Christmas list.  She may add this fun idea to next years program!!

Connie got into wool punch needle rugs and during her husbands health recovery went to town and made these two beautiful , and very heavy, wool rugs.  They are done on a heavy cloth, monks cloth, which has the pattern printed on it. They are too nice to put on the floor!!!

Kathy made the quilt above for a grand nephew...love the colors.
Barb showed this wonderful little quilt made up of cross stitch squares she had been doing for years.  She combined them to make a vintage looking little quilt that is so sweet.

Tracey showed this quilt she helped make in her church's quilt group.  It is for the STEM program which is thru the High Schools and helps high school students who are homeless.  They also used the Toro bags to store the quilts in when given to the kids.  Great idea.
Our sweet Joan has been busy with the quilts above shown by her helpers.  She is a busy lady and we are so lucky to have her able to join us at Fellowship Quilters.  Love ya Joan!!

Judy made the bag above for the Paddle auction that will be our fun event at the June meeting.  This will be to raise money to give to the Grand Traverse Baby Pantry.
Judy's has also been doing cross stitching...Sewing mends the soul....Love to Quilt!!
The bag below is also for the auction.  Judy is so talented.
Well April has come and played a joke on us with all the snow.  I am sure it will be gone by the time we meet again at the end of April...but you never know!!  We have had snow at Mothers Day.   Don't forget the work Bee on the 10th.  The group is busy with hospice quilts, meals on wheels quilts and pillows for the heart program at Munson.  Everyone is welcome and fun and laughter is always the first order of business!   Cheers!  Kathy
